NEWS & UPDATES

Latest Update

April 1  -  Archived. I also hope to add Weekly Blog April 1, 2020 - Thoughts While Waiting for COVID-19 [which, oddly enough is actually about Red Knoblauch and his Johnstown cronies].

April 2  -  I stuck a couple of photos on the All Star League page.

April 3  -  I stuck a couple of photos on the Alcyon Speedway page. This time of confinement will probably mean a lot of minor additions like yesterday's and today's. Also, put a few more photos on the Joe and Andy Romano page.

April 4  -  After I added a number of photos to the Arundel Speedway section of the Maine Race Tracks page, I realized I had put them on the wrong page on my computer. Today, it is on the correct page. I was going to add a few shots to the Beech Ridge section today, but I think - if I work indoors today - I will take the Maine page and break in into two pages. It is too unmanageable due to the high amount of memory involved. It took me over ten minutes to save it on the computer and two external hard drives. Actually, the Maine Race Tracks is now in two pages - Page 1 is Andover thru Old Orchard; Page 2 is Oxford thru WIndsor. I will be adding more material to both. Here's the link to the first one  Maine Race Tracks; and second one Maine Race Tracks. You can access all tracks from both, however.

April 5  -  Added considerable photos to the WIscassett portion of Maine Race Track, 2nd Page.  Also put  a few ,more on the Biddeford Speedway section of Maine Race Tracks, first page.

April 7  -  Added considerable photos to the Oxford Plains section of Maine Race Track, 2nd Page.

April 8  -  Added a page on Arlington Speedway, Poughkeepsie, NY.

April 9  -  Added considerable photos to the Wiscassett section of Maine Race Track, 2nd Page.  Also added several more photos to the Wes Moody page. Added some more shots to the Rocket Men page.

April 13  -  Added a large amount of photos to the newly - created Spud Speedway section of Maine Race Track, 2nd Page.  This turned out to take hours and was a tiring task because I realized that - when I began this job - I had ONE photo of Spud. There are many more photos of all these tracks on their various Facebook pages; but I think this page is a much easier way to view them. If I add anything more to the Maine Race Tracks, 2nd page - I'll have to split it up. Due to the huge Oxford, Unity, Spud, and Wiscassett sections, it has become too memory intensive.  I added some items to the Doc Blanchard page.

April 15  -  Added a few more shots to the Oxford Plains section of  Maine Race Track, 2nd Page.  This will be the last additions as it is. It's so big it's nearly killing my Toshiba external hard drive. Breaking it up into two pages is necessary and is going to be a real pain in the ass; so, I may not do it for a while.

April 16  -  The Maine Race Tracks pages now number three. Much easier to work with. Follow link directions at the top of each page.

April 17  -  With information from Buffy Swanson, I have to add the name of Ed Ortiz to my Racing People We Have Lost Since 2016 page.

April 19  -  I decided to take 8MM footage and other photos from the 1960 Modified Sportsman race at Daytona, break down the old movies, and make a comprehensive page of that very famed race which had what many believe to be the biggest wreck in the history of NASCAR.

April 25  -  I decided to look at the 1960 Modified Sportsman race at Daytona page on my phone. I gave up after six minutes of waiting for it to load, and I have a pretty up-to-date phone. I would strongly suggest viewing large pages like this one or the Maine race track pages, etc on a computer. They look better and take far less time to load. I added several more photos to the 1960 Modified Sportsman race at Daytona page. I would definitely enjoy it on a computer, unless you have a phone that precesses faster than mine.

April 27  -  I have added the latest blog Weekly Blog April 27, 2020 - Comparing the Two Grands [primarily about Harvey Tattersall's Grand American division and when it came to my area].

April 28  -  With information from George Hunt, I have to add the name of Link Pettit to my Racing People We Have Lost Since 2016 page.

May 1
 -     Will archive soon - too nice to be inside today. I have the particularly sad duty of placing the name of Butch Jelley on the page Racing People We Have Lost SInce 2016. Butch was not only a racing legend, but a friend who was always glad to see you at any track.
