This particular Bowl ad tells us a great deal. Marty penciled in that it is 1971. This means the track was still depending on Modifieds and
Chargers then, and that the NASCAR late model sportsman thing had not happened yet.

THE PAVEMENT CHARGER ERA

Ladabouche Photo
Former Devil's Bowl dirt driver Charlie McMahan watches two things very foreign to the dyed - in - the - wool Devil's Bowl
person: cars performing on asphalt and practice. Dirt tracks don't have interminable practice sessions, like they can do on pavement.
Paul "Cookie" Vallares and Bill Conover on the track.
